Feeling Good ... RECOMMENDED!

Feeling Good

This book is a real life saver. Dr. David D. Burns breaks depression down into a health problem that makes a lot of sense. What you tell yourself has a tremendous impact over your motivation and how you feel about yourself.

Pair with the workbook to get the most out of it.

Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal Plus Allergy Vacuum ... RECOMMENDED

Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal Plus Allergy Vacuum

Every once in a while, Dysons go on really big sale on Amazon, allowing you to snatch up a brand new (or certified refurbished) unit for less than half or even less than the regular price. The cost of the animal plus allergy unit is $699, so this is a huge savings.

Are Dysons really worth that kind of money?

Yes. The design of the Dyson vacuum creates a suction that surpasses other models and picks up more of what you don't want (i.e. HAIR) laying around your house, your furniture, etc.

Further, the vacuum has a HEPA filter that traps hair dander and other allergens. This is the only way some of us can live with our pets. I've talked about all of our furbabies before. They're dear to my heart -- just not to my nose!

For people with severe allergies, this is the perfect vacuum for spring in areas with lots of vegetation budding and kicking up pollen.

In addition to the BIG benefits, having tried so many different vacuums to help with our pet's hair, I can say for certain that it's just much, much easier to use. You push a button to empty, for instance. Just very user friendly, and definitely worth those sale prices. Click the photo above to check current pricing.

Young Living Essentials ... NOT Recommended

Young Living Essentials EO Party Plan

Want a Young Living Alternative? Click Here!
This company sells high-quality essential oils and related products at CRAZY ASS prices! You don't have to spend a fortune to access trustworthy essential oils. I'm talking the difference of $70+ a bottle in some cases, so please... RUN.

I'm a big fan of Edens Garden essential oils. They're not a party plan. They fully source their merchandise, and they're on Amazon!

That site has tons of difusers as well, so if you're looking to work EOs into your daily care in a way that doesn't break your budget, check Edens Garden out ... and forget about this party plan company.

NuFit Dumbbells ... RECOMMENDED!

NuFit Dumbbells

Taking care of your body is ultimately the most important thing you can do today for the old you of tomorrow. I took care of my grandparents and of my aging great aunt (who in the end was deaf, blind and am amputee) so trust me when I say, it's worth investing a little more to really prepare your body for old age!

There's been a lot of talk about NuFit Dumbbells, and whether they're a gimmick or not. They were expensive, but Amazon has an easy return system, so I wasn't too worried about it. Basically, all we have to do is drive down to the UPS Store and drop things off, so... I decided to try out the yellow. I believe they're also available in orange and blue/gray, but yellow gets me pumped!

NuFit is a great company with products that allow you to fully work your muscles while protecting your joints. The same is true of the NuFit Dumbbells, and it looks like I'm not the only one who feels that way. The reviews repeat the same idea of, "Wow... so this whole time I've not really be lifting??" You will feel ALL of your muscles after the first few times you use these babies, so take it easy. Don't just jump straight into your routine, because your muscles aren't going to be prepared for this stuff. Cut back a little and take a few days to warm up to the changes.

Use these and your arms will look AWESOME. Recommended!

Owens Corning Acoustic Insulation to Block Noise from Neighbors ... RECOMMENDED

Owens Corning Acoustic Insulation

Our apartment is amazing, but the walls are fairly thin, so we wanted something to block our noise from the rest of the neighbors. These panels work much better than regular acoustic wall cover, but we initially went with them to prevent from damaging the walls. They're insulation boards, you put up and then cover in fabric. There's special acoustic fabric you can use, but I don't believe it's necessary.

Installation took a few days, and it was more expensive than I thought at first. Definitely figure all the costs in before you begin. It's less expensive than traditional acoustic foam wall cover though because you won't have to make major repairs when you move. Our landlord was very concerned when we told him our first idea, and then we realized you have to use a special glue to lay those tiles down to really work.

These are much easier, less messy and they look better on the walls in my opinion. A wonderful option for blocking out noisy neighbors or to contain noise in your own home, whether you're a musician, wookworker, serial killer (haha) or whatever. RECOMMENDED.

Zicam Cold Remedy - Pre Cold and Flu ... RECOMMENDED

ZICAM Cold Remedy

We play D&D twice a week in a small, intimate shop downtown. It's the absolute best setup imaginable, but a lot of the guys are completely clueless when it comes to being considerate of other people. They'll show up hacking and sneezing and expect you to comfortably sit at a table with them for 10+ hours. My boyfriend rolls with it, but I have a very sensitive immune system and get sick very easily. I spent Halloween - my favorite holiday! - home sick and miserable because of these guys, so I was really excited when I saw what was called the "Pre-Cold Medicine."

This stuff works great, and it's so much easier to take than Airbourne. Those products, even the ones specifically for kids, leave me feeling sick. Plus, you have to drink so much to protect yourself that you wind up spending a bundle.

Purchased over Amazon, ZICAM is not as expensive as in the store, and it's so worth it. I went through most of the winter and spring without catching anything, despite spending many late nights with friends who were a few steps away from walking pneumonia.

If you have trouble staying well or if you're often forced to be around people who are ill, try this. You won't regret it!

Wendy's Jalapeño Fresco Spicy Chicken Sandwich - NOT Recommended

Jalapeño Fresco Spicy Chicken Sandwich

We're big fans of Wendy's and of spicy foods, so when we pulled up to see the Jalapeño Fresco Spicy Chicken Sandwich advertised, buying a pair of value meals was a no-brainer. When done right, there's nothing better than a spicy sandwich.

Unfortunately, these - like so many hot fast food meals - are all heat and no taste. They're also a complete mess!

At 590 calories, it's clear a lot is put into this spicy Wendy's chicken sandwich. They boast five layers of heat: spicy chicken fillet, fresh jalapeños, ghost pepper sauce, Colby pepper jack cheese, and a red jalapeno bun. Unfortunately, once you get that ghost pepper sauce in your mouth, all you can do is feel the burn.

It didn't stop after we stopped eating either. We both had terrible stomach aches overnight. I wont go into further details on that front ... just know, this burger isn't for the faint of heart, or for anyone who actually likes the taste of jalapeños.

About halfway through eating the sandwich, I scraped off most of the cheese sauce. The remaining ingredients tasted so much better without it, but it's still not a meal I'd order twice.

Norwex Eco Cloth - Clean Without Chemicals! RECOMMENDED

If you have a sensitive nose or skin, you probably try to stay away from harsh chemical cleaners like I do. I like having my house seem clean, but bleach, PinSol, even dish soap can leave me headache-y.

One of my friends got in touch with me a few months ago and asked me to go to a Norwex party.

Usually, I don't attend party plan parties. I don't like Plexus, Usborne Books, Jamberry Nails, etc. Their products are usually subpar and way too expensive. I feel like I'm paying my friend to be bored at her house for a few hours. All the same, when invited by a good friend and not wanting to be rude...

I came home with a $17 washcloth. Granted, it was supposed to be THE BEST WASHCLOTH OF ALL TIME! Supposedly, it was capable of clearing away serious germs with no chemicals at all. The proof was in the pudding.

During the party, the rep did a super-cool demonstration with raw chicken that left me sold. The towel has held up really well, and I've added a few more items that I'll review later.

Every single piece of the Norwex line is expensive when compared to similar products at the big box store, but it's a little like apples and oranges. A washcloth from Target isn't going to let you clear away bacteria using just water. Other items, like the wool dryer balls they carry, replace dryer sheets that contain toxic chemicals, and they're similar priced when you look at the cost of dryer balls for a year.

Whether they're cost effective for you really depends on what you buy now, and your attitude toward cleaning products and environmentalism. In addition to some really effective items, Norwex also runs a microfiber recycling program, which I find extremely helpful. I got rid of all the low-quality clothes I'd picked up at Walmart/Target and am slowly replacing them.

Neutrogena Ageless Restoratives Anti-Oxidant Moisture Night Cream

Stress can do terrible things to your skin, so if you're experiencing age spots and wrinkles prematurely, you may be tempted to get a product to get rid of them. That's where I was at when I got the Neutrogena Ageless Restoratives Anti-Oxidant Moisture Night Cream. I'm glad I bought the smallest size available, because it gave me a chance to see if it would really work?

Does this cure age spots?

Short answer: no. I used it religiously as instructed for six weeks and saw no lightening in my age spots. It was a huge disappointment, as I was in my early 30s and didn't want to look like I was in my 60s! In fact, this product did nothing at all to improve the appearance of my skin. As of yet, I haven't found anything to effectively manage those spots except for keeping my face out of the sun.

Please leave a comment if you've found a more effective product for curing liver spots!
